Ok boys and girls, let's get this season started. I'll be opening the registration for this season Sunday evening (8/2/09), perhaps Monday morning if I pass out on the keyboard...

Couple notes:
-The League page might still say 5v5 on the button, that's ok, rest assured that the format will be 6v6.

-Will get a mappack up on BFCL's ftp as soon as I crack enough lashes of the whip across Stalker's back, he's a little bit busy atm.
---If you're too damned in a hurry to wait, you can get the custom maps directly from TGW at http://www.tournamentgamingworld.com/BF ... _maps.html (http://www.tournamentgamingworld.com/BF2142/CustomBF2142MapsPage/custom_maps.html)

-It is very likely that the authors of the custom maps at Tournament Gaming World will be willing and able to host our mega-scrim on both their battle server and TS so the event should be a great opportunity to meet some new friends. I'm still working out those details with them and will post ip's and such as soon as I know. If not, BFCL will set up its own server and use our TS. Check here early, check here often for details.

-Registration will be open at the very least until Aug. 22nd. If new teams apply, we will hold a two week pre-season and registration will be extended to the 29th of August with the Regular Season commencing on Sept. 6th (Labor Day Weekend). If no new teams apply we will skip the pre-season and kick off the regular season on Aug. 29.

-There are administrator positions open for the 2142 division. I'll do my best to bring you another season of fun but will also be very busy in other areas too so anyone interested in helping out can have their training wheels on this season with me and grajitate just in time for 2010.

Couple Reminders:
-Complete rules for this competition can be found here (will change the 5's to 6's this weekend):
http://www.bfcl.info/league/index.php?l ... view=rules (http://www.bfcl.info/league/index.php?l=7&s=46&mod=content&view=rules)

Of course the big ones are:
-No spawncamping, play to cap and advance your position, you know it's a cheap kill when it's a cheap kill so avoid it.
-UCB's are off limits, no entering or attacking, even just to buy a postcard. If the enemy is attacking from their UCB they are giving you permission to fight back.
-Infantry only! Pretend like the E button doesn't exist.

-Log in to the LMS and select the 2142 6v6 (5v5) BEFORE clicking "Registration" in the Navigation menu, otherwise you'll probably register for the wrong comp.

-When organizing your roster, please add the last 8 digits of your team members' GUID under ID.

What's needed from you:
-Post here if you intend to register or have registered. Add your contact info and at least one alternate team captain's contact info.

-This season will be a mix of custom maps and vanilla maps. After the mega-scrim, you can post which customs you liked best. At anytime however, I'd like to hear from all interested teams which vanilla maps you'd like to see fill out the rest of the season. A ranking of your top 3-5 is sufficient.

-Brace yourself for a kick ass IO season!

At any rate =SoC= would like to invite team [FLOT] members if they would like to participate in a joint team. All we need to do is inform the BFCL what our intentions are. These will be custom maps we have never played on before and should pose a interesting challenge and we will need to have intra squad scrim practices so it will not be for the faint of heart in order to be effective and develop tactics.

There was talk of doing 2 teams this year if enough interest was there. We'll see how many respond. Drunken has organized these events for us so I'll be anxious to hear from him.

I was interested in putting together at least 1 team that was committed to be there every week on time. Not that I minded playin with new people every week for the tourney, but a core group would've fared better against some of these elite teams that were out there practicing as a set squad every week.. It'd be great if we had 2 set teams. It would be awesome if they all could make all the matches on time too, but the real world makes that hard at times.

No matter what, these leagues are an intense experience that force you to use teamwork and strategy. And a blast ta boot. Maybe I'm taking it too competitively, but wouldn't it be sweet to win this hoopla!

I wouldn't call that too competitive Rusty, you've got set that goal first, and then have fun working to achieve it!

That would be cool if FLOT could enter two teams... my rule of thumb when it comes to competitions is to get at least 1.5X the format size and I really only feel comfortable once I hit 2x... so for 6v6 if I can get 9 people I'm "ok" if I can get 12+ I'm groovy.

One option that might not have been considered is perhaps you're in that netherworld between 1 and 2 teams, say you have 15-16 signed up, a few too many to allow everyone play time while keeping that "consistent group of guys" you alluded to and a few too short of having two solid rosters. If that's your scenario, FLOT can enter one team on it's own and one combined with another... eh hem... SoC eh hem... We did this a couple seasons ago in 1942 where we had an SoC team for 8v8 with about 18 guys on the roster and a USF/SoC team that had 5 or 6 of our members (myself included) teamed up with our friends at USF.

Yea... that match where SoC squared off against SoC/USF... yea that was some great times!

That would be a blast. I'm absolutely confident that we've got enough players interested for another season of BFCL. Personally, I doubt I'll be able to join in and play for the first few weeks, depending on when it starts. I'll be starting at a new job sometime after August 20th or so and I'm not exactly certain what my hours are going to be yet.

I have no doubt that we'll be able to post enough players, though, and I really like the idea of two FLOT teams, even if one is a mixed FLOT/SoC/whoever team.

Thanks for the heads-up, Jagr and AMC. Count us in!

alright ladies and gents! Yours truly, in typical chaotic fashion has put a few more touches on this here thing:

1. Some updates on the league side of things at bfcl.info:

http://www.bfcl.info/main/viewtopic.php?f=150&t=2408

--Details for the mega scrim this Sunday have been posted on a new flyer (below).

--Mappack is ready for download

--League competition page is dressed up all purty (flyer below links directly to it)

So here's where I ask how things are coming along as far as FLOT signing up for this competition... Do you guys have enough players interested to do an FLOT team and throw a few poor SoB's to suffer through a season of teaming up with us?

We have roughly 6 signed up, 6.74 to be exact lol so if there's a handful of FLOT souls interested there's plenty of room! One thing I want to be sure of is we don't want to create any friction if this is the direction you're headed in. We have no expectations of you guys sending us your "best" "worst" "black sheep" "drunk uncles" or whatever else. Consider sending whoever has gotten real good at knifing me, which is just about anyone at FLOT lol.

In any case, I posted a "sign up" thread in our Battlefield public forum:
http://www.socbase.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=112&t=6773

I'm looking forward to whatever happens next!

amoralcenter
08-18-2009, 01:54 PM
yea, that was my bad fellas, accidentally put in the zips instead of the exe's so the extra step of manually putting the map folders into your 2142 levels folder is all that was needed.

Thanks to all the FLOT'ers who were able to make it over my map screw up hurdle and show up Sunday night, twas a lot of fun.

But hey, let's get these teams registered for the fall season! I've got to start drawing up matches and need to know what teams are in.

If someone wants to shoot me a pm or post here of who, if anyone is planning on teaming up with SoC that'd be great, I've had a couple other friends of SoC post some interest in joining our motley band of merry warriors too so if you guys think you'll only have enough to do an FLOT team don't sweat it, I think we're gonna sign up for weekly butt kickings either way lol.

FLOT rocks!

08-18-2009, 01:55 PM
so i place each map folder directly into the map directory? then all will be good to go? just want to make sure i up the server files in as well or just the client...

thanks

amoralcenter
08-18-2009, 01:59 PM
Yup.

What I do is unzip all the maps to my desktop, then, copy and paste each map folder into my 2142 levels folder and that's it. One map, Osanippa River Bridge has a full and a patch, so copy the full into your levels folder, then copy the patch into the levels folder and select yes to all to overwrite and patch it up. However, the folks who attended the mega scrim generally seemed to think that Osanippa would be too big for 6v6 and it prolly won't be used.

If you still need help add me to your xfire, amoralcenter, and I can fix you up via chat

no that should be good for now...i just didnt want to manually do anything to screw up 2142...we all know how temperamental it can be just to patch up and get it to work...that's why i asked if i should copy the folder first...but if thats all there is to do no big...

I agree it was fun...graphics are nice but maps are huge for 6 on 6 competition with no vehicles I assume...

synergy
08-19-2009, 01:34 PM
well yeah, they want to base it off bf2 style it seems where you really have to use control points, instead of just capturing a flag, use that spawn strategically...and it seems as though they want frontal war instead of run and gun...i like it

Just an UPDATE for the practice scrims on BF 2142 - SCW (THE STRANGE COUSINS from the West) has had a blast playing on the TGW Scrim Server -password is (scrim) - Our next Practice will be Wednesday at 9 PM- Moral please request to TGW that Ossinappa River Bridge and Kursk be deleted we would like to add Jellabad (Jelly Bean BF2), TGW SHIPMENT, and Marbella Outpost to the scrim maps as well we are hopeful they will make for better 6 x 6 infantry. As far as I'm concerned any number of our friends are welcome to practice with us as we still are lucky to get 4 x 4 much less 6 x 6 in practice ...the ip for server 64.34.183.179: 17567 just make sure you have the maps...my xfire addy is captnjagr

Ladies & Gentlemen,

Ole Jagr got a J.O.B. offer, he will be in Austin, Texas for management training for the next three weeks starting on Monday the 31st...I will be back in time for the BFCL 1st match of the season! The SoC Scrim server is not password protected and has all the maps so all you need is the maps!! I have requested to =SoC= Injuneer we add Insurgency at Alcatrazz, 2142 Ladder, Operation Nightshift, Severnaya, and a Bad Surprise to the rotation as some of the maps are just too large for 6 on 6 infantry. Please advise =SoC= Moral_Center of the maps you want for this tournament!

Any requests for tweeks to the server direct them to =Soc= Injuneer either by xfire or PM!!! Since I will not be able to practice and my computer time will be limited to answering emails and monitoring the SoC and FLOT websites. Keep practicing fellahs and I will see you guys in three weeks as I finally got a job!

By the way TGW has tournaments all the time it is something that I think SoC is going to try out to see if it may work out
