Hey FLOT,

I was a member for quite a while. I quit FPS's and online gaming for quite some time. I haven't played since 2142 days =) I've had some pretty scary medical issues and getting thrown through the hell gamut with tests, etc. Had a bone marrow biopsy today.

Missing FPS's, but always been a BF guy at heart. Could never get into CoD.

How is BFBC2? Does it capture the same joy and feeling of BF2142? Is it goodness?

I'm not sure if i am going to pick it up yet, looking to the pros for honest opinions. I loved BF2142 but could only play the same game for so many years =)

Nice to hear from you man. Been awhile for sure. Keep your head up and march through that gamut man, a positive mentality goes a long way. I had the @%$# scared out of me when I was 27, now I look at it as a bump in the road.

As for BFBC2, it's no 2142, that's for sure. The teamwork/communication is not as smooth as the ingame voice is still bugged. But, we have Vent for that. The maps are smaller, but visually it's amazing, the water, smoke and not to mention the destructable environments are awesome. There are wind gusts that roll through the battlefield that totally come into play. It really is a hybrid of Battlefield/COD to me, but I still have fun. There is a emphasis on taking good shots, you won't be able to clear a room with one clip, you'll be lucky to get 2 guys with 1 clip, but I like that. There's noob tubes, 1 button knives and rpg sniping, but every strength has a weakness too. There's a ton of guns and plenty of kit choices to mix it up to fit your mood. Only time will tell its' staying power, but I don't see it getting old yet. I give it a 9/10, only minus for the 4 player squads and failed communication.

Glad to see you on the interwebs. Fingers crossed for you and the health issues.

BC2 is much prettier than 2142 but its a brand new game. If there is a demo try it out before you plunk down the $$ .

Take note of one rush map (Farm, Lumber Yard etc.) where above the B Spawn is a collapsed train rail. Upon the rail is a rail car, I noticed today for the first time that it teeters upon the elevated portion of the rail, that attention to detail makes me really enjoy this game.
