• Dirty Teams :: Competitive Gaming

Bringing this back, been awhile since I posted up any posts. I like to follow the CEVO forums/Competitions just to see what people are playing in the competitive space/ how much it's died. I also like to keep track of all the other competitive venues out there, be it some night cup that spins up, c-gl, the former twl and their trials and tribulations etc. Just today I came across a team...

126 vBulletin forums hacked; 819,977 accounts...

One of those not so friendly reminders to keep up to date on security patches for the software you run. Normally I wouldn't post here about this stuff, but since we also run vBulletin software, and some of those forums I recognize as places our members have accounts, it's time to remind everyone forum owners and members alike about security best practices. Periodically vBulletin, like any...

    BF4DB back in Action

It's been awhile since BF4DB shut it's doors, and yesterday they announced they were back in action. https://bf4db.com/news/welcome-to-bf4db And while most of our memberbase has moved onto greener pastures it does bring me hope that those of us playing BF1 will see a bf1db.com show up soon. While any one metric alone shouldn't be used to determine...

Well here we are again. Another day, another database containing usernames and passwords out in the wild.

I'm a day late on this one, but yesterday it was announced on Reddit that an Origin database containing usernames and plain text passwords has been leaked. Curious that the passwords are plain text. Meaning someone had already decrypted it before posting it up.

This makes it more lethal, because usually a database breach just gains an attacker usernames, ...

Crowd sourcing is a pretty good way to bring the mass distributed processing abilities of human beings to bear for large datasets. Anybody that's signed up on a forum, or downloaded a file in the last decade is familiar with ReCaptcha. That distorted text you're painfully deciphering is actually having the combined ability of humans just like you manually OCRing text.

Fast forward to today, ReCAPTCHA is just a pain for humans and doesn't even stop spam bots. ...

Color me impressed, for the first time in a long time I'm actually pretty intrigued by the new COD:MW 4, or better known as Call of Duty: Ghosts.

The huge thing we're seeing here is a brand new engine. Call of Duty has traditionally caught flack for small incremental overalls on an almost decade old engine seen through the series.

The brand new engine is looking pretty snazzy, on the level of what we can compare ...

I think it's dead Jim. With the majority of teams having dropped the ladder, and us winning every ladder match we've played so far, I think we can retire at the number one spot. I was hoping to get a game out of shot docs, but it doesn't look like they're interested in challenging us. FLOT sits at the top of the TWL CTF 5v5 Fast Attack Ladder with a nice 5 / 0 - (0) record.

Battlelog was just recently updated, and with it we're seeing larger icons? Haha, we're all blind anyway. It seems like they are putting a larger emphasis on players avatars, along with a more stylized approach to their online status.

You have no option in the matter, users will be forced into the new layout whether or not they download the latest Battlelog plugin. However, if you ...

The TWL CTF ladder is finally picking up! We're hemorrhaging teams at an amazing pace but we're also seeing new teams emerge onto the ladder.

I'm proud to say FLOT is currently leading the pack with a 2 / 0 - ( 0 ) record. but it's still very early. We've seen the likes of Crimson and now Technical Difficulties both drop from the ladder after defeats. With Shot docS and ...

So FLOT is heavy scriming the past two weeks. We've been hard pressed to get into 5v5 CTF's now that we hold the 2nd rung ladder position, when the majority of the community is still stuck in the 5v5 metro, bazaar cycle.

So sometimes if it's looking like we won't get a CTF scrim, we'll bend to a conquest scrim request.

Just tonight it was such a situation where we put out a conquest request, we were going to go up against nG, NexoGaming on Gamers Portal. @XDE4TH was ringing for us, and let us know that one of their players had a linked ban. We decided to take the thanks, but no thanks route. And opted to only scrim them if they dropped their player with a linked ban.

It was a tough decision, not only because we're desperate for practice, but because we need good teams to scrim against. I felt bad at the time about turning down the scrim, knowing that we probably would have lost.

The fun part, well another one of their players just got caught for an aimbot, no fewer than 40 minutes ago. Looking back now, we would have probably lost to some players with added help. And I thank XDE4TH for making us aware of their sketchy lineup.
